Regarding Sophie
The unintended expat blogger behind Harbor Quill Glow

Hey, I'm Sophie
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expatriate living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t in the plans for the long haul. Like many international transfers, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The early weeks were demanding — unfamiliar systems, fresh routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more convoluted than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Harbor Quill Glow
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or surface-level tourist material. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Switzerland.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical knowledge from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- A tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A general travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Switzerland continues, and the learning process goes on. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll keep documenting what we encounter.
If you have any questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
